post number 3 theme
The most prominent theme in the book is blame. The theme is blame because when Mathu killed Beau Candy took the blame. She called around to have all these men in the local are or county to come in to say they all shot this one man but only one bullet is in him. These other men come around to take the blame for something they didnt do which is killed another man. Sense they are taking blame for something they didnt do the cops or Fix does something about it or try to. I dont think the guys have any idea what they got themselves into without knowing the whhole story which probably come back on them as all of them going to jail or killed. The rascism was harse at this time also so most likely bad things will happen to all of these men. But i believe the truth will come out and no blame will be said anymore.

A theme in a story is a universal idea that can be applied to anything. It's a message that you can obtain from the whole story. To me, saying the theme of the book is blame is too general and isn't really a moral you can take from the story. It could be a good start to what the theme could possibly be, but you would need to elaborate more on the subject to make it more into a moral. It's also hard for you to back up your claim because you don't have any direct quotes from the book in your post. I also disagree with you when you say that none of the guys have any idea what they're getting themselves in. To me, it is obvious that they all are aware of the consequences and I think that helps move the story along. I think that all of them coming together and standing up for one another, knowing that they could get the death penalty, is what makes the story everything is. It shows how they were able to take control and obtain there rights even when no one one else was giving them any.
